Pre-opening fever is here!
I call it pre-"pick your own" fever. It forces me to check on my daffodil beds almost daily. I start to
put together a list of things to be done: renew the mulch, fertilize the beds, walk along the flower beds, taking note of the bare spots, and plan new additions. And seems like this feverish mode is quite firmly upon me now. Soon, very soon, the buds will appear, shooting high and heralding spring. We are almost there, people - SOEL Farm is approaching its seventh year of pick-your-own flowers! Hope to see you soon.

Meanwhile, I want to announce an ongoing sale on the farm. For a couple years I have worked on an expanding alpine strawberry collection on the farm. A small plant, which looks like the midget strawberry, is the precious workhorse in the garden: surviving our zone 7A winter, covered with tiny white flowers in early spring, which turn into extremely aromatic and delicious little berries. And they keep going right up until frost sets in! It even has medicinal and skincare uses. There are a couple of articles about it on this site alone.
We are selling the seedlings for $5, which is well below the market rate. Please contact me directly at 917-913-2425.
